LCT - Lane Closure Technician

Job Title: TCS / Lane Closure Technician with BCCSA Training and Experience on BC Highways

Location: Nanaimo / Duncan/ Parksville, 

Pay: From $25.00 ~

 

Job Summary:

We are currently seeking Lane Closure Technicians with training and experience working on BC highways to join our team.

 

As a Lane Closure Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of lane closures during construction and maintenance projects on BC highways. If you have a strong understanding of traffic control and WorkSafe BC regulations and OHS guidelines, experience in lane closures, and the necessary BCCSA training, we would love to hear from you!

 

Responsibilities:

- Set up and maintain safe and efficient lane closures on BC highways, following BCCSA regulations, guidelines, and relevant provincial highway standards.

- Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, and traffic control personnel to ensure smooth traffic flow and minimize disruptions during construction and maintenance activities.

- Conduct site inspections to assess the feasibility and safety of proposed lane closures, resolving any potential issues or conflicts.

- Deploy appropriate lane closure devices, such as cones, signs, and barricades, according to established plans and safety protocols.

- Monitor and adjust lane closures as necessary, considering factors such as traffic volume, road conditions, and weather.

- Communicate effectively with team members, law enforcement, and drivers to provide clear instructions and ensure the safety of all personnel and road users.

- Maintain accurate documentation of lane closures, H1080 forms, traffic plans including daily logs, incident reports, and any communication with relevant authorities.

- Conduct regular checks and maintenance of traffic control devices and ensure they comply with safety standards.

- Participate in ongoing training programs to stay updated on industry best practices and advancements in lane closure technology.

 

Requirements:

- BCCSA Traffic Control Certification as a TCP

- Proven experience working on lane closures on BC highways, demonstrating a strong understanding of traffic control WorkSafe BC regulations, standards, OHS guidelines and protocols.

- Knowledge of relevant MOTI Work on Roadways Traffic Management Manual 2020, provincial highway standards and guidelines.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with team members, law enforcement, and the public.

- Ability to work outdoors, in varying weather conditions and potentially hazardous environments.

- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

- Physically fit and able to lift and carry traffic control devices up to 50 lbs and equipment when necessary.

- Valid driver's license, clear ICBC Drivers’ abstract, and experience driving FAB pick-up trucks.
